KAYANZA August 5th (ABP) – The director of the provincial office of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock in Kayanza province (North), Mr. Adelin Niyonsaba, indicated that only 319 cows were artificially inseminated the six last months. He has, in fact, asked the communal veterinarians and the administration to make the stockbreeders aware of the importance of that technique.

The data provided for by that office shows that in April, for example, 145 cows were inseminated, while in June only 84 were registered.

Starting from the same data, Mr. Niyonsaba affirms that the rate of artificial insemination in Kayanza province leaves something to be desired, whereas, he notes, this technique is free and has many advantages for the animal and the animal raiser. He speaks, for example, of having cows with an improved breed in addition to the prevention of certain contagious diseases in the animal.

Contacted to that end, the modern farmer living in the headquarters of Kayanza province, Mr. Gordien Kaze, who had his cows artificially inseminated, said that this method allowed him to obtain very dairy cows. That stockbreeder, also known by the nickname of Rubazi, takes the opportunity to call on his pairs to have their cattle artificially inseminated given the importance of this reproductive method.

It is reported that Kayanza province now has 51,719 cows of all breeds.
