KIRUNDO July 26th (ABP) – After noting irregularities in the marketing of BRARUDI products, cement and sugar in Kirundo province (north of Burundi), the governor’s office organized on Friday July 22, 2022 at the head- place in the province, a meeting for wholesalers of these products and retailers, to find the solution together, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
The governor of Kirundo province, Mr. Albert Hatungimana said that the disorder is much observed in the marketing of BRARUDI products. Some wholesalers have also opened bistros while it is banned, adding that they also distribute these products to retailers at higher prices than those already set by the government. Retailers, in turn, exceed legal prices, and the consequences trickle down to the consumer.
Some wholesalers have indicated that we are seeing the proliferation of bistros, which means that they do not receive enough drinks, hence the complaints from retailers.
For cement, Governor Hatungimana clarified that only BUCECO partner wholesalers are authorized to sell cement to avoid speculation.
He warned anyone who dares to ignore the measures taken by the government, saying that they will be punished according to the law.
