Meeting for contact and discussing the life of the Musigati commune

BUJUMBURA July 19th (ABP) – The administrator of Musigati commune in Bubanza province (north-west of the country), Mr. Déo Kwizerimana, in the company of the president of the communal council gathered on Friday July 15, 2022, in Bujumbura, the natives of this commune, for a contact and exchange on the life of their commune, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In his welcoming speech, Mr. Kwizerimana informed the participants that peace and security are a reality on the 24 villages of the commune, adding that the people go about its activities normally. He also pointed out that the communal administration is continuing its campaign to mobilize the people so that it adheres more to the tracing of contour lines and the practices of irrigating the fields during the dry season, so that each mouth has enough to eat as desired by the President of the Republic, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye.

Given that education is the pillar of sustainable development, that communal authority has opened a debate centered on that sector as well as that of agriculture and livestock, thus hoping that this debate will be fruitful for the commune which, according to Mr. Kwizerimana, was once considered the breadbasket of other communes of the country where people from other border communes to get supplies.

The representative of the association of natives of the Musigati commune, Mr. Gabriel Ntisezerana, stressed that the development of the commune must be a concern of everyone while working in synergy because, he said, the Unity is strength.

In the education sector, the parish priest of Musigati, who also accompanied the municipal administrator, gave a reminder of the project to rehabilitate part of the Musigati I basic school and the upstairs building from another part of this school to increase the number of classrooms from 12 to 18 classrooms. The total amount of the project amounts to 272,168,855 BIF, he said, thus calling on the participants in the meeting to mobilize funds, each in its category, for the start of activities.

In terms of success, the provincial director of education, Mr. Claude Badugaritse, a native of Musigati commune, reported that during the 2020-2021 school year, Musigati commune won first place at the level of provincial, national competition and state examination, with a success rate of 96.4% and 84.6% respectively.

In the agriculture and livestock sector, the Honorable Ntisezerana returned to the excursion that some heads of services of Musigati commune made in Muruta commune of Kayanza province. To this end, he asked participants to recognize that the soil is no longer fertile and to get involved in sensitizing the population to the change of mentality according to which the tracing of contour lines contributes to the reduction of arable land.

The participants at the meeting proposed that there be supervision in all sectors of the life of the commune to increase performance. They asked to advocate for farmers who have already paid the advances to receive FOMI fertilizer on time. They also proposed to create a cooperative of natives of the Musigati commune working outside of it, to serve as a model throughout the commune and to strengthen social cohesion between them.

The chairman of the association of natives of Musigati commune residing and working in Bujumbura City or in the interior of the country thanked the participants for their fruitful interventions, an eloquent sign testifying that they are concerned about the well-being of the people of their administrative entity, he concluded.
