A partnership agreement for the financing of the tournament of the premier women’s football league has been signed between the FFB and the company VIETTEL

BUJUMBURA July 3rd (ABP) – The chairman of the Burundi Football Federation, Mr. Alexandre Muyenge and that of the telecommunications company VIETTEL (Lumitel) in Burundi signed a partnership agreement on Tuesday June 28, for the financing of the tournament of the premier Burundian women’s football league. This contract, which expands over a three-year period, will be financed by VIETTEL to the amount of 135,000,000 BIF per year.

Mr. Muyenge thanked Lumitel for that help, noting that the FFB has just taken a big step forward. He also said that this agreement will raise the level of women’s football compared to previous years. Besides, Mr. Muyenge said that it is another form of visibility for the telecommunications company, especially that the teams will wear jerseys with the Lumitel logo and that the championship will be called Lumitel Women’s League.

The chairman of the Burundi Football Federation also specified that the amount of 135,000,000 BIF per year will be used in different sectors of that female discipline. He explained that the prizes for the best teams will be revised upwards compared to previous years. For example, he said, the champion team will receive 7,000,000 BIF, the 2nd 5,000,000 BIF, the 3rd 3,000,000 BIF and the 4th 2,500,000 BIF. He added that other prizes will be introduced in the same way as those awarded to their male counterparts playing in the premier league. He cited in particular, the prizes for the best team of the year, the best goalkeeper and the best scorer, who will each receive 1,000,000 of our francs. Lumitel has just taken over the premier women’s league in the same way as Brarudi, which supports the men’s one. Mr. Muyenge expressed his wish that this partnership agreement will be renewed after 3 years.
