RUMONGE June 27th (ABP) – The Burundian Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, hosted, on Friday June 24, 2022, a moralization session for the people of Rumonge province.

During that session of moralization, the Head of State indicated that moralization pushes people to mark a new step in the change of mentality and in the activities. He said that peace reigns throughout the country, which gives the opportunity to the people to work for self-development. He thus called on the people to patriotism, an important factor in achieving the development of the country, he added.

For the Head of State, it is regrettable and deplorable to see people leaving their motherland to work for other countries while Burundi has assets for development. According to President Ndayishimiye, no country has developed thanks to the divisive spirit. He, therefore, called upon the people to cut short with this spirit and to love their motherland to develop the country while being in synergy. He also spoke of the advent of Westerners which blocked the innovative spirit of Burundians. For him, the Burundian of the period before the arrival of Westerners, knew how to make the tools he/she needed, giving the example of the forge and the manufacture of traditional clothes from trees. This spirit of innovation should characterize, according to the Head of State, every Burundian who wishes to see their country develop, instead of complaining that Burundi is not at the same stage of development as other countries. He said that the administrative officials need to be moralized so that they know that they were elected to serve the people and not to embezzle public property. The moralization session was also an opportunity for the people to address their grievances to the President of the Republic and most of them were related to land disputes, the trials of which were marred by irregularities. Some questions have got answers on the site, from the Head of State, while others have been noted by his advisers to be dealt with later after the investigations.

The Head of State deplored the complicity of certain administrative officials in cases of fraud, citing the case of gasoline-type fuel which was discovered at the home of the adviser to the governor of Rumonge province, in charge of development, Mr. Gilbert Horugavye. According to the Head of State, that behavior is not worthy for a representative of the citizens, the reason why he dismissed that adviser from office, at the same time, in front of the public.
