BUJUMBURA March 30th (ABP) – The Minister of East African Community Affairs, Youth, Sports and Culture, Ézéchiel Nibigira, hosted a press conference on Monday March 28 in Bujumbura (western Burundi) to present the new governing bodies of the CNJB.

They are Mr. Thierry Ingabire, the CNJB leader, the deputy leader Mr. Aimé Igiraneza and national secretary, Mrs. Rosine Guilaine Gatoni.

The minister in charge of youth has indicated that even at the provincial level, those new bodies are composed of a leader, his deputy and the secretary who are 54 in number. That is the same at the communal level, totaling thus 357 young people elected throughout the country.

Mr. Nibigira called on the new bodies to initiate procedures for the establishment of their legal framework and any regulatory text accompanying their proper functioning. Rules of procedure and the statutes of the CNJB must be drawn up within 6 months, specified Mr. Nibigira, promising that the ministry will accompany that council in its daily activities.

During the handover and resumption, the outgoing leader of the CNJB, Mr. Éraste Nzosaba acknowledged that the outgoing council experienced a lack of resources following the delay in the establishment of its legal framework. Nevertheless, the activities of that council for the gathering of young people after the 2015 crisis have borne fruit, he affirmed.

The incoming CNJB leader, Mr. Ingabire indicated that the new management team will work on the establishment of the legal framework and regulatory texts which gives them access to the pursuit of other activities.

Among the other missions of the CNJB is the mobilization of young people around peace, patriotism, human rights, as well as the promotion of income-generating activities for young people. The new governing bodies throughout the country were elected for a term of 5 years.
