The Catholic Church in Burundi now has a new Apostolic Nuncio

BUJUMBURA February 14th (ABP) – The Catholic Church of Burundi proceeded, Thursday, February 10, at the Regina Mundi Cathedral, to the welcoming ceremonies of the new Apostolic Nuncio Bishop Dieudonné Datonou. A mass of thanksgiving organized by the Archdiocese of Bujumbura was organized for that purpose.

Those ceremonies were enhanced by the Vice-President of the Republic, Mr. Prosper Bazombaza accompanied by his wife.

Also present were the bishops of Burundi, the priests, the nuns and a crowd of faithful of that church.

The President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Burundi (CECAB), Bishop Joachim Ntahondereye, in his welcoming address, welcomed the presence

of the Apostolic Nuncio to Burundi. He will validly represent Pope Francis who appointed him, added Bishop Ntahondereye.

For his part, the Apostolic Nuncio Datonou, indicated that he will highlight the strengthening of cooperation between Burundi and the Holy See in the field of reconciliation, peace, assistance to the poor and health.

The Vice-President of the Republic invited the Apostolic Nuncio to invest himself so that growth in the faith goes hand in hand with development in all sectors of the country.
