Administrative officials in the Mugano zone are called for the fight against crime

MUYINGA January 18th (ABP) – The Mugano zone of ​​Giteranyi commune, in the province of Muyinga (north-eastern Burundi), has been facing recurrent crime for several days.

The governor of that province, J. Claude Barutwanayo, asks administrative officials at all levels in this zonal entity to break the routine to crack down on that situation of torpor.

Ten days ago, a man in his thirties, named Ezéchiel Miburo, from Mukoni village in the said zone, was beheaded with a machete on Rugese village by his creditor who owed him 260,000f, deplores Janvier Ndagijimana, the administrator of Giteranyi commune. In a security meeting bringing together the joint provincial security committee held recently by Governor Barutwanayo in Mugano, he indicated that this area still had itinerant criminals asking the administrative authorities and the population to combine efforts to fight them.

The governor of Muyinga said he was shocked by the death of that citizen beheaded in broad daylight, in a locality which has administrative staff with a population under their care. For him, the administrators who are not able to protect the population against criminals must put the apron back and warned the hillside elected officials who do not properly fulfill their mission.

It was also an opportunity for the provincial authority to call on the administration, the defense and security bodies, the population to fight fraud towards Rwanda via Lake Rweru which is making headlines in the Masaka zone of the same commune. According to information provided by witnesses, Burundian fraudsters cross Lake Rweru, freshly caught fish in this lake and other items such as scales are also sold in Rwanda.

The zone leader, Masaka who has been singled out by the provincial governor as an accomplice in that smuggling, has been asked to change his behavior before rigorous measures are taken against him.
