Torrential rains mixed with hail and strong wind caused serious damage Ruhororo commune

NGOZI January 5th (ABP) – Torrential rains mixed with hail and strong wind, fell on Saturday January 1, 2022, Ruhororo commune of Ngozi province (northern Burundi) and caused severe damage in that locality.

According to the report of the communal administrator of Ruhororo, Mrs. Mamerte Birukundi, the crops of maize, beans, cassava and bananas, were completely destroyed on five hills, namely Kabuye, Nyakibingo, Taba II, Buganuka and Kagoma. A total of 1336 households were affected.

The administrator of Ruhororo commune is asking for food and non-food assistance for the victims.

She claims to have already contacted the Provincial Platform for Disaster Risk Management and Reduction for possible assistance.

Note that the growing season A of 2021 saw torrential rains and hail in several localities of the Ngozi province, which damaged the fields. The most affected communes are Kiremba, Marangara, Ruhororo and Ngozi.
