Official launch of the 15th edition of the torch of peace

BUJUMBURA November 12th (ABP) – The chairman of the national organizing committee of the 15th edition of the torch of peace, Brigadier General Ntirampeba, hosted a press conference on Wednesday November 10 in Bujumbura at the place for journalists to announce that the Burundian Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, will officially launch on Wednesday November 17, in Gitega, the political capital, the 15th edition of the torch of peace to close it on Saturday November 27 in Bujumbura , the economic capital.

The main theme of that edition is: “All together, let’s fight against poverty, let’s work for a sustainably developed Burundi”, indicated Brigadier General Ntirampeba, indicating that the launch of this edition will see many activities of community interest, notably the launch of the project to build the presidential office in Gitega, the inauguration of pediatrics at the Kibuye hospital and a cultural vigil at the Ingoma stadium in Gitega.

According to the president of the national organizing committee for this edition, it is planned, on Sunday, November 21, at the Nkurunziza peace park stadium in Makamba province (south), a special day of Olympic games. From 23 to 26 November, there will be a fair-exhibition of national products and services called “Made in Burundi”, he said, adding that another exhibition of young Burundians talented in entrepreneurship and innovation is planned under the sub-themes: “Youth for the promotion of peace, youth ready for development”. This fair-exhibition will take place in the city of Bujumbura, Mukaza commune, on the Independence Causeway.

According to Brigadier General Ntirampeba, the closing of the 15th edition of the torch of peace, scheduled for November 27, will be marked by various activities, including the inauguration of the rehabilitated market of Kamenge in Ntahangwa commune, the inauguration of the hospital Tanganyika Care polyclinic and the Kanyosha II Basic School in Muha commune, as well as other activities of the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS.

He also pointed out that the torch of peace is among the activities organized by the Intwararumuri association, in partnership with the Ministry of East African Community Affairs, Youth, Sports and Culture, as well as the Committee. National Olympic Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS, and that of Commerce, Transport, Industry and Tourism.
