Prodefi II activities end on December 31, 2021

KARUSI November 5th (ABP) – The activities of Prodefi II end on December 31, 2021, said Wednesday November 3, 2021 Mr. Albert Babona on behalf of the coordination of the project, during the presentation of his achievements since 2016 in five communes of Karusi province (central-eastern Burundi).

In front of the governor’s office, all communal administrators, executives from the Provincial Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock (BPEAE) and communal technicians, representatives of farmer-breeders and cooperatives benefiting from the project, Mr. Babona presented a great report of the achievements which shows that the milk and rice sectors have taken the lead. The development of marshes and watersheds as well as their effective and efficient operation, the rehabilitation of rural roads and the construction of sheds for the good conservation and management of harvests, the distribution of cattle and sheep, the quality and the quantity of food for women and children, the construction of rice-growing and dairy cooperatives as well as the supervision of young people and rural women were priority activities of Prodefi, he demonstrated.

Now that the project is coming to an end, the administration, technical services and beneficiaries, both direct and indirect, have a duty to jealously guard the gains, he asked.

Questions relating to equipment not yet delivered or received and or delivered in poor condition by those who had won various supply contracts have been raised without concrete answers.

Since IFAD is a donor to the government, the advisor to the governor with development dependent, Mrs. Jeanes Carine Ngendahayo, accepted a firm commitment to the sustainability of the achievements.
