Burundi Senate President has granted the audience to the Ambassador of the Republic of Nigeria to Burundi

GITEGA July 27th (ABP) – The President of the Senate of Burundi, Mr Emmanuel Sinzohagera, received in audience, on Monday July 26 in Gitega, the Ambassador of the Republic of Nigeria to Burundi, Mr Elijahc Onyeagba, Ph.D, for discussing the innovations made within the Nigerian embassy in Burundi as this embassy now has an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador whereas, previously, it had a chargé d’affaires.

The audience was also intended to announce a Nigerian delegation that will arrive in Burundi on Tuesday under the leadership of the Minister of State for International Affairs to meet with the Burundian authorities, Mr Gabby Bugaga, spokesperson for the President of the Senate, told the press in his press briefing after the audience held in camera. The meeting will take place in a joint committee of delegates from the two countries to discuss cooperation opportunities.

Areas of cooperation that could interest the two sides will include education, health and information and communication technologies, Mr Bugaga added.

The Nigerian ambassador also indicated that he intends to contact Nigerian investors to come and invest in Burundi. He went on to say that Burundi is a country that offers a lot of business opportunities for Nigerian investors.

On his part, the President of the Senate of Burundi addressed his thanks to Nigeria for the cooperation actions already carried out in Burundi. Among other things, he noted the financial support amounting to $ 150,000 that Nigeria gave to Burundi about ten years ago after the fire in the Bujumbura market. He also called for the extension of cooperation relations between these two countries in several sectors.
