The Prime Minister of the Republic of Burundi has received in audience the new Chinese Ambassador to Burundi

BUJUMBURA June 2nd (ABP) – The Prime Minister of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Alain Guillaume Bunyoni, received in audience on Tuesday June 1, 2021 in the Ntare Rushatsi House, the new Ambassador of China to Burundi, Mrs. Zhao Jiangping, who came for a courtesy visit.

At the end of the audience, Mrs. Zhao Jiangping said their talk focused on the state of relations between China and Burundi.

She went on to say they have mutually expressed their satisfaction on the bilateral relations. The two countries have long-standing traditional ties of friendship marked by political trust, fruitful cooperation and support on the international stage.

Their discussions also focused on projects underway, including the Jiji-Murembwe hydropower plant, whose work will be completed in 2022. According to Zhao Jiangping, that plant will increase electricity production by 30%.

The two persons high in authority also discussed projects in the field of agriculture, especially in connection with the agricultural piloting center. They expressed their common desire for cooperation in the agriculture sector, public health, human resource training and infrastructure in the mining sector.

The Chinese Ambassador to Burundi hopes that through this win-win cooperation, China will be able to support the government of Burundi in achieving the National Development Plan (PND).
